New-ish Furniture

When I reopened the Cub Motel it was severely lacking in basics. The furniture was old, not to mention dirty and completely mismatched. But worse, there was simply not enough furniture for even half the rooms to have even a TV to sit on. So with some networking I was able to pick up a few pieces to fill all the rooms with at least the basics.

I was using this old “furniture” that was really weird. It was made to sit down on the ground. It must have been the type drawers that go under a bunk or something. Whatever. I had to get it off the ground so I put it on 2 table stools that I got from Walmart. A little precarious, but it served its purpose for a short time while I acquired better stuff.
I got this set with 2 side tables to replace it. Nice. Dated (not necessarily a bad thing). Which matches the feel of the motel & seems to tell a story. It sits off the ground & is easy to clean under. I like it a lot!
I took 3 of the under-bed ones and stacked them to make a semi-proper chess of drawers. That worked splendidly! THEN I found side table that matched! Yes! How cool is that?!!! I even found one corner shelf in a similar style.
The desk was built onto (attached) to the wall. I found a dresser and side table to match the desk & voila!
I got 30 of these awesome round backed chairs that all look alike for next to nothing. That one chair that I found, under the desk, matches the round backs that I got. So excited!
I had a few of these tables for the rooms but the chairs were generally mismatched and in great disrepair. They were just gross actually, stained & torn. I found 4 of these nice chairs that are the same blue-green as the tabletops. That’ll do.
For the torn & stained chairs that actually matched the tables, my mom pitched in & recovered a few. Splendid!
I had this old dresser that was useable, but no side tables. Look at that! I found side tables that were lighter but the metal hardware completely matches. Sitting across the room, next to the bed, these tables were just what we needed. Otherwise I was probably going to toss this big old wood dresser. That would have been a waste under these circumstance. We needed furniture. Nothing should be wasted.
Oh. There were more of those side tables with matching dressers. I got them as well. Great old stuff that matches the wonderfully worn weathered and dated feel of this beautiful gem of a motel. I love it!
The richness of some of this furniture was so appealing that I got several of each set. The entire motel is furnished now. What a relief! One day I’ll splurge on new furniture for the entire complex. In the meantime, this antique touch will do just fine.
